Baby Updates

Laurie might have the baby sooner rather than later. She is about 35 weeks along right now. For the past 15 weeks or so the doctors have been monitoring a condition Laurie might have. Laurie has a rare antibody called Antibody M. It's nothing bad. The thing is, I have the rare Antigen M as well. The doctors told us that it's not a big deal and not really to worry about it. The worst case scenario is that Laurie's blood starts to fight the baby's blood for the iron is her system. The baby can become anemic (lack of iron). So every few weeks, Laurie gets an easy blood test to tell if her body is starting to contend with the baby's. So far, the tests have been really good and not really a concern. About 2 weeks ago her titer levels rose up some so we went to see a specialist. He wasn't extremely concerned after running some other tests. If after this week of blood work and an ultrasound, the doctor sees about the same titer levels and consistency in the tests they will probably schedule Laurie to deliver in the next week or two. All of the baby's organs are developed, he is just fattening up in there waiting to be delivered. We just wanted to let everyone know what was going on incase they decided to deliver early.
