Middle Name

Laurie and I are pretty much set of a first name for "B". But we have been back and forth on a ton of middle names though. So if you have any thoughts we are open to suggestions. I know it's kind of hard to choose a middle name not knowing what the first name is, so his first name is..............Yeah Right!!! You'll just have to wait. Seriously, we can use some help with a middle name.

Baby

Everything went fine in Laurie's last Dr.'s visit on Wednesday. They basically do an ultrasound and take measurements of the blood flow in the baby's head, then plug the numbers they get into an application. That will tell them if the baby is at risk. The number they got this time was a little higher than a few weeks ago (but not at a dangerous level) , so the doctor wants her to come back next Thursday and repeat the test. If the number is higher next time, they will more than likely schedule her to be induced. But as of right now, everything is cool. "B" is just relaxing and getting bigger. Even if we do deliver early, "B" is already around 6 pounds. So he should do pretty well if they had to take him out early. Last time we had an ultrasound the nurse mentioned that he had a bunch of hair. The instant the new nurse started the ultrasound yesterday, she said wow he's got a lot of hair.

Baby Updates

Laurie might have the baby sooner rather than later. She is about 35 weeks along right now. For the past 15 weeks or so the doctors have been monitoring a condition Laurie might have. Laurie has a rare antibody called Antibody M. It's nothing bad. The thing is, I have the rare Antigen M as well. The doctors told us that it's not a big deal and not really to worry about it. The worst case scenario is that Laurie's blood starts to fight the baby's blood for the iron is her system. The baby can become anemic (lack of iron). So every few weeks, Laurie gets an easy blood test to tell if her body is starting to contend with the baby's. So far, the tests have been really good and not really a concern. About 2 weeks ago her titer levels rose up some so we went to see a specialist. He wasn't extremely concerned after running some other tests. If after this week of blood work and an ultrasound, the doctor sees about the same titer levels and consistency in the tests they will probably schedule Laurie to deliver in the next week or two. All of the baby's organs are developed, he is just fattening up in there waiting to be delivered. We just wanted to let everyone know what was going on incase they decided to deliver early.

Baby Updates

This morning, Laurie and I went in for an appointment. We had another Ultrasound done to check the baby's growth and see how he was progressing. As expected, he is going to be a big baby. The average weight for a 33.5 week old baby is 4.5 pounds. He is over 5.5 pounds. The nurse doing the ultrasound also said that he has a big head. That was also kind of expected. The cool thing is that she zoomed in on the baby's head and said that he has a ton of hair. So look out Reghan, you have a contender for the most hair record.

The kids

Laurie and I had a good weekend at home with the family. We went to a ton of garage sales in Heather and Kevin's subdivision on Saturday and then watched Rylee play softball afterwards. We managed to squeeze lunch in with John and Amanda and the kids inbetween. It was a pretty full day.

Spring

Laurie and I have been working on our landscaping lately. We have been trying to get our yard into shape too. Fortunately for us the previous owners planted some good looking Tulips that come up each year.

Slow week

I know that last week and this week have been slow posting weeks. Laurie and I haven't been real busy lately and haven't been home for a little while to see everyone. We are coming home this weekend to visit and to do some mean garage saling. Heather and Kevin's neighborhood is having their annual garage sales so we are hoping to pick up some cheap baby stuff. Last weekend Laurie and I went around to a few sales here and headed up to Lafayette to get a few Purdue items. We also went to the new Gordman's store that just opened up in Lafayette.

We also started a 7 week childbirth class at our hospital Clarion North. There are about 10 couples in the class and it goes over a lot of useful information about the entire process. We meet every Monday night from 6:30 to 9:00. Laurie likes it because at the end of each class, they turn the lights low and the spouses give their wives massages and help the relax. Tonight we are going to go see an early screening of the new Iron Man movie. It should be pretty good.
Talk to everyone this weekend.
